LANCASTER- The Lancaster Market always has new vendors. We have added cut flowers, garden stones, homemade periogies, organic pain relief, and organic veggies and more. Check out the Website at www.lancastervillagemarket.com to find out what is fresh and new the next week.
The canning program only has three more weekends so get to the market, pick up some free
product, and check out the 10 a.m. demonstrations. The schedule will be on the Website.
Soups will start up in September at the Lancaster Grille. Also, homemade at the market, the grille has added grilled pizza. Visitors can buy a six inch pizza for $3.
In addition, try out this new recipe for chicken: Take six organic chicken breasts without skin. Two boxes of couscous any flavor you want, a tube of goat cheese herbed, three cups of white wine, fresh garlic, and lemon juice.
Cook the couscous and when ready take half of the couscous and add the goat cheese to melt. Cut a pocket into the chicken and place some of the couscous mixture in the pocket and brown in a fry pan with olive oil. Place each of the browned chicken breasts in a baking pan and bake for 30 minutes at 375 degree or until completely cooked.
Meanwhile take the crushed garlic and sauté in olive oil until tender, add the wine, and reduce then add the juice of a lemon and 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese. Add the reduction to the chicken and save some to cover chicken.
When serving, bake for 10 minutes more and serve with fresh asparagus from the market and the rest of the couscous as a side. Enjoy!
The market is located at 4913 Transit Road, in Lancaster. It is opened from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. Anyone interested in more information or interested in becoming a vendor call Ann Jordan at 481-2961.
