Holiday workshops to be hosted by Sweet Charlottes

Sweet Charlottes may have just opened its doors in Clarence but owner Molly Pitman is ready to start hosting events for the holidays. Several different workshops will be held at this children’s activity center throughout the month of December.

First on the holiday schedule at Sweet Charlottes will be an ornament workshop. This will take place all day from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Dec. 6 and Dec 7. Children can come to the ‘craft café’ and choose which ornament they’d like to make off of the ‘holiday menu’ of choices. There are several options to choose from, ranging from simple ornaments to more complex for the older children.

The cost for this workshop will depend on what ornament the child chooses. It can cost anywhere from $3 to $10.

“It gives the kids the opportunity to create something special,” said Pitman. “They’ll also have something commemorative for that year.”

The next event will be the Sweet Charlottes tree-trimming event. Pitman will have a tree set up and displayed in the activity center. The children’s ornaments will decorate the tree. They can either use the ornament that they made at the ornament workshop or they can choose to make a new ornament to decorate the tree. This event will take place on Dec. 15 and there is no additional cost to it besides admission.

As children, many of us enjoyed getting our hands covered in frosting and using candy to build not only a gingerbread house, but also a holiday tradition. This is why Pitman decided to host a gingerbread house workshop at Sweet Charlottes. This event will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Dec. 16. Sweet Charlottes will provide all kits and supplies so the only thing that children need to bring is their creativity.

To get everyone in the holiday spirit, Pitman will be playing holiday music for the crafters to enjoy. She will also be providing winter’s most popular drink, hot chocolate.

“It’s a great hands on holiday decoration for the house,” she said. “Families can come here and do this project together.”

She added that she encourages parents to come with their children and make this traditional holiday craft as a family. It adds to the traditions of the holidays. The cost for this workshop is $25 and will give the children a great holiday craft to take home and put on display.

Sweet Charlottes is a children’s activity center that provides a space for children to be children, show their creativity and have some fun. Parents can bring their children to Sweet Charlottes and play with them or they can drop them off for a couple of hours and enjoy the other services that Clarence has to offer. A portion of the Sweet Charlottes proceeds will be donated to autism awareness, including the proceeds from the holiday events. This children’s activity center is located at 10255 Main St. in Clarence. It is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
