LANCASTER- Dunkin’ Donuts will be giving a real caffeine jolt to Erie County Clerk’s Office “Thank-A-Vet” Discount Program.

“We at Dunkin’ Donuts love our veterans, and our participation in the Erie County Clerk’s “Thank-A- Vet” Discount Program shows how grateful we are for their service to our country,” stated Timothy E. Cloe, whose firm Northern Star Restaurant Management Inc., has been running Dunkin’ Donut franchises in Erie, Chautauqua and portions of Niagara counties since March 2011.

All Erie County Dunkin’ Donuts locations will be offering 10 percent discount to veterans presenting the Erie County Clerk’s Office “Thank-A-Vet” discount card.

“I am pleased to partner with Dunkin’ Donuts to offer this discount to our veterans,” said Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs. “Veterans Day is an opportunity for us to recognize and celebrate our nation’s heroes, and the Thank-A-Vet Discount Program allows us to show our gratitude all year long.”

Under the “Thank-A-Vet” Program, the county clerk’s office provides a photo identification certifying that an individual is an honorably discharged veteran. This service is free of charge. Over the last year, Erie County Clerk Jacobs has been reaching out to local businesses asking them to offer a discount or benefit to veterans who present this discount card.

“We’ve grown the program to over 350 participating businesses to date, but Dunkin’s participation takes the program to a new level,” said Jacobs.

The “Thank-A-Vet” Discount Card and benefits are available to any veteran in Erie County who files their original military discharge papers with the County Clerk’s Office. DD-214’s are valuable documents that are proof of one’s military service and can be used to establish eligibility for a variety of benefits such as property tax exemptions, civil service credits and Military Honors.

As a free service to veterans, the Erie County clerk puts these valuable documents on file for safe-keeping, providing peace of mind to the veteran and loved ones knowing that certified copies are easily accessible when needed.
