Mt. St. Mary Academy to hold end of summer bash

Kenmore - More than music awaits at this year’s Mount St. Mary Academy Summer Music Festival, on Saturday, Aug. 25.
The school will host a summer bash to launch its 2012-13 instrumental music program, and the event will allow attendees to soak in the last days of summer with activities for all.
The Erie County Wind Ensemble will launch its 2012-13 season with a special concert on the school’s front lawn, the group’s first performance as Mount St. Mary Academy’s Artists-in-Residence.
The award-winning Mount St. Mary Academy Jazz Ensemble and Mount St. Mary Academy Marching Band will also perform.
This is the first performance of the new season for the Mount St. Mary Academy Marching Band, which will debut its 2012-13 music selections.
The festival will include a mega-market yard sale where shoppers can find china, knick-knacks, lamps, vases, jewelry, sport items, furniture, collectibles, toys, very good condition clothing, kitchen items, and more at bargain prices. Shoppers can also take a chance on MSM’s meat or theme-basket raffles.
Other events include a classic car show and a Chiavetta’s Chicken dinner, which will be served from 2 to 7 p.m.
“We are excited to host the Erie County Wind Ensemble and look forward to their collaboration with our school,” said John Hathaway, Mount St. Mary Academy marching band director.
“This festival allows our students the unique opportunity of performing with a professional ensemble in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.”
The festival will be held on the front lawn of the school (3756 Delaware Avenue in Kenmore) from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25 fand admission is free.
The event is scheduled outside, and guests are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket. In the event of rain, festivities will be staged inside the school.
