Village of Lancaster kicks off the holiday season with Fire Truck Parade, Tree Lighting

LANCASTER- The 2012 Village of Lancaster Special Events Series officially kicks off the start of the holiday season Saturday, Nov. 24 with the annual “Light up Lancaster,” holiday tree lighting.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. with the Christmas Lamb presented by the Lancaster Presbyterian Church. The largest fire truck parade in Western New York will begin at 6 p.m., the tree lighting will follow immediately after.
The fire truck parade will start at the Lancaster High School, proceed down Central Avenue and end at Broadway and Central Avenue. Santa Clause will arrive in style on the last fire truck to greet the children, along with Village of Lancaster Mayor Paul Maute and the Board of Trustees will throw the switch that lights the holiday tree.
Those who attend can feed Santa’s reindeer, enjoy a relaxing wagon ride, or visit the Christmas Lamb. Also, free refreshments will be available throughout the evening.
There will be music performances by the Lancaster Show Choir, the Lancaster High School Musical Department, and Dance Spectrum. This event is free. The evening will end at 9 p.m. Visit www.lancastervillage.org for more information.
