Collins Town Council working on town codes

In an effort to bring a bit more organization to the town, Supervisor David Tessmer and the Collins Town Board spent time reviewing the town codes at the April 16 board meeting.

This included the codes affecting the operation of the transfer station, getting uniformity in department reports, solutions to a more economical park shelter in the new town park, and prioritizing many of the other things that have been on the town’s to-do list.

In other matters the board:

• Proclaimed Sunday, May 6, to be Draft Animal Day in the Town of Collins, recognizing the Draft Horse, Ox, and Pony Club’s affair which takes place that day on Wheater Road.

• Agreed to make a final close-out payment of $5,339 to Birch Grove Landscaping, on the pump house project on Taylor Road.

• Set a public hearing for May 7, at 7:30 p.m. to establish meeting dates for assessment review.

• Agreed to advertise for a part-time custodian for the town properties, with a deadline for applications set for April 4, at 5 p.m.

The next regular meeting of the Collins Town Board will be on Monday, May 7, at 7 p.m., in the Collins Town Hall.
