Assemblyman Raymond Walter, R-Amherst, was recently named to a number of assembly committees, including the powerful Ways and Means committee, which deals directly with the state budget. Walter’s additional assignments include insurance, housing, health and aging.

“The committee assignments I have received this year will provide me with an opportunity to take a leading role on a number of the most important issues facing Western New York’s families and businesses,” said Walter. “From having a more direct involvement in crafting the state budget with the Committee on Ways and Means to utilizing my experience with the housing, health and insurance committees, I am confident that this year’s legislative session will yield great progress on the local issues our community cares about most.”

Walter was also appointed Ranking Minority Member on the Committee on Aging. Through his work as an elder law attorney, Walter feels he has the experience and qualifications it will take to be a leader in his new capacities.

“As Ranking Minority Member on the Committee on Aging, I will be able to continue my life’s work of protecting the needs and concerns of our senior citizens,” said Walter. “As an elder law attorney, I understand that our seniors have worked and planned their entire lives to provide for their loved ones. I will utilize my seat at the table of the aging committee to protect what they have earned and provide them with the programs and services they need.”
