It’s not every day that New York City’s top nightclub entertainers put on a show in Buffalo.
That’s exactly what will happen when Community Music School presents “88 Keys: A New York City Cabaret-Style Show” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25, at Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle.
The event celebrates the 88th anniversary of Community Music School, located in Buffalo’s Elmwood Village.
“88 Keys” also marks the 88th birthday of Andy Anselmo, a Buffalo native who attended Community Music School as a youngster and went on to operate one of New York City’s most successful voice schools. Known as “Voice Coach to the Stars,” Anselmo has worked with such luminaries as Liza Minnelli, Mandy Patinkin, Regis Philbin, Brooke Shields and Joanne Woodward. He recently returned to Buffalo and serves as a trustee of Community Music School.
Headlining the event is Caroline Jones, a singer, songwriter and recording artist who is a featured entertainer at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency in New York.
Also participating is the husband-wife team of Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano, who have been called “the New York nightclub world’s most celebrated team.”
They have entertained at such New York hotspots as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Algonquin, Birdland and the Metropolitan Room. Also featured will be singer and actress Margaret Curry, a frequent New York City nightclub entertainer known for her cabaret work. Jazz saxophonist Bobby Militello and crooner Michael Civisca, both Buffalo-based artists with national profiles, will be featured as well.
Tickets are $40 per person, with all proceeds going to Community Music School.
VIP tickets are available for $100, which includes a post-event reception with an opportunity to meet the performers. Group discounts are available. For tickets or information visit www.cms-buffalo.org/88keys or call Community Music School at 884-4887.
The Community Music School is in its 88th season of providing musical instruction to children from as young as six months, adults and seniors of any age in many locations including Buffalo, East Aurora, Lancaster, Lockport, Snyder and Clarence Center.
