It’s a slam dunk for students at Oracle Charter School

Representatives from 15 area colleges were on hand to speak to students about the different programs they offer, and the requirements of those programs.
Financial aid representatives were also on hand to counsel students on how to fund college.
“It’s wonderful to see so many students engaging in conversations about their futures,” commented Deb Skok Watson, Oracle’s college counselor and coordinator of the event.
In support of the event’s “slam dunk” theme, each student had the opportunity to shoot baskets for door prize tickets. Students earned shots at the basket each time they spoke to one of the college representatives.
For students already decided on a course of study, this was an opportunity to refine the process and zero in on which schools offer programs that suit them. For those undecided, it was an opportunity to discover and explore programs that might interest them.
“I found a variety of schools that offer my major,” commented Oracle senior Londen Moss, “I would recommend this event to others, because it identifies options for the things you want to do.”
Oracle works with students on college preparation right from the start. Unlike the majority of college fairs that cater only to juniors and seniors, Oracle’s event was open to all grade levels, as well as newly accepted students who plan to attend Oracle in the fall.
