Market Street Art Center member's exhibit starting Sept. 1

The fifth annual Member’s Exhibition opens at the Market Street Art Center on Saturday, Sept. 1.
“This year we are using both galleries for this show,” said Executive Director Linda Van Buskirk, “We have seventy works by seventy artists.”
Diversity is the keyword for this show. Most art shows have a unifying element, a single artist, a single medium or a single theme but, as Linda points out, “with the Members Exhibition you get it all.”
She said there is photography, paintings, sculpture, pottery, quilting and more.
“Our members come from all backgrounds, all walks of life and come in all ages,” she said. “The public will recognize many of the names here like painter Joseph Whalen and sculptor Mark Tolner. Other names will be new to them but talent is the one thing they all have in common.”
An opening reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1. Refreshments will be served.
The Market Street Art Center is located at 247 Market St. in Lockport. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
