LANCASTER- The Lancaster Youth Foundation, an established 501(c) 3 charitable organization in the Town of Lancaster, is seeking members for its Board of Directors.
The foundation was established more than a decade ago to provide financial resources for programs that benefit the youth in our community and to build an endowment which will assist the community in serving our youth for years to come. Each year, the foundation provides grants to organizations for programs that have a positive impact in the lives of our youth. More than $5,700 in grants were awarded in 2012.
The foundation board holds regular meetings five to six times annually and hosts four to five additional fundraisers during a calendar year. The current list of established fundraisers includes the Community Spelling Bee, the Lancaster Depew Teen Idol Competition, a “Letters from Santa” Program, and a pancake breakfast hosted by Applebee’s Restaurant. Board members are appointed to a term of three years.
The foundation is seeking candidates for vacant board positions. Candidates should be energetic and have a desire to work on fundraising programs that benefit the youth in our community. They should be willing to use their connections to secure donations to help build our endowment or that can be used as raffle items at our events. They should be willing to attend the regular meetings and events.
Interested candidates should forward a letter of interest to Board Chairman, Peter Herr at pherr@thecreativebuffalo.com or via mail to 200 Oxford Place, Lancaster, NY 14086. Letters should include a statement of why you would like to join the foundation board and any qualifications that you feel that you have which make you a good candidate. Please also include a list of any related community service experience. Letters of interest should be received by Nov. 9.
The Board of Directors is looking to seat new board members by the Dec. 5 meeting.
