The Town of Newfane will “light up” for the holiday season on Dec. 7.
The evening event will feature a variety of holiday activities for the entire family to enjoy.
“It’s a very old fashioned Christmas atmosphere,” said Sue Neidlinger of Shoppe on Main.
The light up parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. down Main Street. The parade will end with Santa’s arrival into Newfane.
He will travel down Main Street, stopping at the town’s gazebo. There he will light the tree.
Santa Claus will then be located in Newfane Family Dental, ready to listen to the children’s wish list.
Until 8 p.m. there will free horse drawn wagon rides around town. There will also be free cider, hot chocolate and cookies in the gazebo.
The annual Living Nativity at Grace Bible Church will also take place during the evening, along with the Candy Cane Lane craft show at Newfane United Methodist Church. The craft show will feature 26 artists and vendors and will take place from 4 to 8 p.m.
Music, lights and decorations placed throughout Main Street will also help set the holiday mood.
Main Street businesses and eateries will also have extended hours that day for those wishing to complete their holiday shopping or get dinner.
“It’s great for families and if you still have shopping to do,” said Neidlinger.
This is the eighth year for the event.
The event is organized by Tammy Dodge and sponsored by the Newfane Business Association, Budweys, First Niagara and the Newfane Lions Club.
