Primary election candidates, polling locations for Cattaraugus County

ASHFORD — Pursuant to Article 4-118 of New York state election law, the Cattaraugus County Commissioners of Elections have announced the primary election will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13. There is no county-wide primary.

The New York State Legislature changed the election date from the regularly-scheduled Tuesday, which would fall on Patriot Day, Sept. 11, out of respect for that day, to Sept. 13.

Polls will open noon – 9 p.m.

Town of Ashford:
Town justice – vote for one.

Republican: Carl Stiles and Stephen Kowalski.

The polling sites for this race are the West Valley Fire Hall, 9201 Route 219 and the Ashford Community Center, 9377 Route 240.

A ballot-marking device for disabled voters will be in use at every site. The voting system includes audio units for blind voters and sip-and-puff units for persons with reduced dexterity. This system adds opportunities for the disabled community to vote independently on election day, but does not replace the use of absentee ballots for those wishing to vote from home.

For more information, contact the board of elections at 938-2400, 2401, 2402, 2403 or 373-8010, extensions 2400-2403.
