LANCASTER- Lancaster resident, Frank DeCarlo wants to be a voice for New York State residents. In order to do so, this upcoming election he is running on the Republican line as a candidate for New York State Assembly District 143. As the Owner and President of Paragon Disaster Recovery Consultants LLC, in Depew, DeCarlo, a Vietnam veteran era, served four years in the Navy and was honorably discharged. He has been a businessman for nearly 40 years.
He holds the title of certified restorer, which is the highest designation attainable in the insurance restoration profession. He also holds a Florida State builder’s license, which is the second most difficult license to obtain in the country.
“I am not a stranger to hard work,” remarked DeCarlo. “I don’t intend to [be elected] and shuffle papers. I intend to go in there and mix it up. I will be more than happy to tell the 143rd district who the members of assembly are that are blocking good legislation to bring good jobs into Western New York.”
DeCarlo added the main reason why he is running is trying to run a business in New York State is like “swimming through a mine field with a metal suit on.”
DeCarlo’s platform includes working to eliminate wasteful spending in Albany and expose members of the assembly who are blocking true reform for Western New York, getting rid of regulations that are job killers for WNY, and to eliminate excessive taxation.
“I am not saying I am going to come in riding a white horse and solve all the problems in New York State, but I will tell you this. That being a businessman for 40 years and having the background that I have with leadership and experience, the biggest thing that needs to be done in Albany is having someone stand up to the leadership without fear,” commented DeCarlo.
DeCarlo intentions are to eliminate the regulations on small business that affect jobs, such as the Scaffold Law, Wicks law, and the Triborough Amendment. The reform of these laws would increase job growth in New York by at least 40 percent.
“I know for a fact that would make an incredible change in New York State, especially in WNY,” said DeCarlo.
DeCarlo mentioned he doesn’t have anything bad to say about his opponent, but he believes it is time for change. Someone who will be stricter and more focused on what the issues are in the state.
“He has been in public service his entire life and hasn’t done anything. He has done nothing major to bring jobs into Western New York and I am talking about the right types of jobs. I am talking about private sector jobs. Public sector jobs are important to our community, but the private sector is the engine that drives the economy.”
DeCarlo continued to say it would be beneficial to taxpayers.
“Take a look at the benefits of what the public sector has and look at what the median income is for WNY, you find that the working class people are paying for salaries, wages, and benefits, to the public sector that I can’t afford to give my employees. I have no problem with people making a decent wage or having a great retirement plan. We just need to balance the scale a little bit.”
Several people have lost their jobs, people can’t find jobs, and people with good educations are taking jobs below their pay scale and their experience, said DeCarlo, mentioning that New York should have companies beating down the door for the opportunity to be located here.
“If the 143rd district voters want to vote for me they can invest in their future. They don’t have to invest financially, but invest in the belief that I am going to work to get things changed. I am just looking to make something happen for the good of the community,” remarked DeCarlo.
