Veterans Day celebrated in North Collins

North Collins American Legion Post 1640 prides itself on staying true to the original date and hour of Armistice Day with its yearly Veterans' Day Salute.

Balmy weather greeted this year's observance, held at the Memorial Stone in Dr. Joy Park.. Master of Ceremonies Ted Jumper offered an Invocation, while Post Commander Don Koch presented a brief history on the evolution of Veterans Day from the end of the First World War on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The Post Color Guard and Rifle Squad presented arms.

Participants joined together in singing “God Bless America” led by Town Clerk Margaret Orrange.
