Light fixture to be installed at roundabout in Village of Hamburg
The Village of Hamburg took its first step toward installing lighting at the roundabout that intersects at Legion Drive, Clark Street and South Park Avenue last Wednesday (Aug. 22).
According to Mayor Thomas J. Moses, Sr., members of the Village Department of Public Works stabilized the damaged concrete in the middle of the roundabout.
“We’re going to put some new lights up there,” Moses said.
The mayor noted that his office received word that the lights should be arriving in about six weeks.
Once the village is in possession of them, they will begin the installation process.
“It will probably be within a week (that the lights are installed),” Moses said. At this time, Moses said the next work to be done will be the installation of the lights, but that some additional work may be completed next spring.
“(This will include) work on the irrigation system and planting,” Moses said.
The DPW was aided by a crane that was borrowed from Winters Rigging of North Collins to complete the work.
Village workers finished leveling the structure to make it more stable, and it is now prepared for the lighting when it arrives.
Moses added that the lights will be similar to the ones at the Prospect Street roundabout.
“It’ll be a bit bigger,” Moses said.
He noted one additional difference is that there will be a globe on top of the structure.
