Wilson First Baptist Church is pleased to announce its new family Vacation Bible School entitled, “Wilson’s Seaside Family Adventure,” to take place from 6 to 8 p.m. the week of Aug. 13 to 17 at Krueger Park.
VBS director Tammy Rohring is gathering up her team of volunteers who will assist her in transforming Krueger Park into “Galilee-by- the-Sea,” complete with a cast of craftsmen, musicians, bakers, actors and more.
“Wilson’s Seaside Adventure is a full week of family friendly evenings designed to bring mom, dad and kids together to learn more about the Bible and the life of Jesus, while exploring the culture of Galilee in Bible times,” said Rohring.
Some of the many activities planned include a farmer’s market, baking, jewelry making, stone carving, carpentry, toy-making, songs, games, rope making, fishnet weaving and sandal making.
Rohring said that it will take dozens of volunteers to help make the Bible come to life during Wilson’s Seaside Family Adventure.
Costumed cast members will be playing the role of Galileans that lived, worked and interacted during the life of Jesus. Families that attend the VBS will be included in the Twelve Tribes of Israel, complete with a colorful tribe flag and rousing cheer. Rohring promised a special guest “appearance” before the end of the week.
Wilson FBC is pleased to offer this community outreach, free of charge and open to the public. Church members believe that the message of the gospel should be freely proclaimed to the entire community.
It is hoped that Wilson’s Seaside Family Adventure will be a good starting point for the church’s other family friendly ministries that will continue throughout the year.
