Loving, caring, kind. Those are the characteristics Crystal Walker remembers most about her daughter Isabella Tennant.
“I go through every picture at night because I hope to dream about her,” said Walker.
Walker recollects times when her daughter put other’s happiness before her own like when they took a field trip to the aquarium. Bella noticed a penguin in the gift shop and asked her mother if she could have it. Walker said of course but when Bella overheard a little boy wanted one too, yet was unable to have it she changed her mind.
“So Bella goes Mom, can we get it for him and I said yeah that’s a good idea. So I gave her my credit card and I let her pay for it and she gave it to him and he was just so happy. That’s just the kind of little girl she was, always thought of people,” said Walker.
After tragedy struck almost five months ago, the mother has made it her duty to spread her daughter’s good will to others. Walker, along with the help of her friend Paula Friona, have created a non-profit organization called “Bella’s Tea Party” which delivers tea sets to children in need with the help of donations. The tea sets the duo picked out online are rightfully named “Bella Butterfly.” Recently Walker met with a five-year-old girl named Daniella in Fort Lauderdale, Fla who is receiving chemotherapy at home.
“She suffered from Leukemia but you would never know it. She was just such an energetic beautiful little girl. So we came to her home and gave her the tea set and she was just overjoyed. She said she never had a tea party before,” said Walker.
Walker explains it is seeing joy in other children’s eyes and the support of the community that keeps her going. She hopes to one day make the organization nationwide and have volunteers in every state deliver tea sets to children who are in need of a smile.
“She would just be so excited. I know she is with me every time I give a tea set to someone” said Walker.
