A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 9:30 a.m. from Queen of Angels Church for Josephine (Golyzniak) Pasherb of Lackawanna, who died on Sunday, September 9, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Shamus) O’Connor, Sylvia (James) Rudnicki and Liz (Ron) Jaworski; grandchildren, Cheryl (Paul) Larkin, Pamela (Rick) Kacmarski, Laurie Efthemis, Jessica (Chris) Myers, Michael (Kim) and Kevin (Kamille) O’Connor and Joleen and William Jaworski; nine great-grandchildren and in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Matthew Pasherb; and siblings, John (late Stella) Golyzniak and Mary (late Joseph) Jarosz.
Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Funeral services were held on Friday (Sept. 7) for Barbara Miller, 47, of North Collins, who died on Monday, September 3, 2012.
She is survived by her beloved, Edgar Lay; children, Barry and Travis; mother, Barbara (late Thomas) Miller; and siblings, Dawn Stark and Thomas Jr., John, Robert and Allen Miller.
She was predeceased by her brother, Shane Miller.
She was buried in Lawtons.

Funeral services were held on Friday (Sept.7) from the family residence for Faith (Seneca) Nephew, 69, of the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, who died on Wednesday, September 5, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Nephew Sr.; children, Lynn, Marie, Gary (Paula), Kyle and Gayle Nephew; siblings, Ronald (Sue), Vicky, Clarence (Gale), Cindy Seneca and David and Nadine Pierce; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Mike Seneca.
Mrs. Nephew was employed by Seneca Gaming and Entertainment.
She was a member of the Hawk Clan.

Services were held at the convenience of the family for Joan F. (Knecht) Cummins, 78, of Angola, who died on Monday, August 27, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Gerald (Sue) Cummins, Ronald, Larry, Kathy (Tom) Sheffer and Robert (Mary) Cummins; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Brittany, Ryan, Brandon and Kori Dunshie; fiancé, Dina Pruchnicki; parents, Douglas Dunshie and Sandra Dawley; siblings, Michelle Burgasser and Janet Stowell; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday (Sept. 8) from the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home for Alecyn J. (Mesal) Huitfeldt of Blasdell, who died on Wednesday, September 6, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (John) Bretl, Patricia Korhummel, Virginia Giambelluca and Marvin, Timothy, William and Nancy Lou Huitfeldt; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and additional family members.
She was predeceased by her husband, William D. Huitfeldt.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. from St. Aloysius Roman Church in Springville for Jeanette L. (Schweickert) Quick of Eden, formerly of Springville, who died on Monday, August 20, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Conastance (Donald) Maue, Sharon (Kerry) Fitzgerald, Mary (John) Hilliard and Dawn Quick; siblings, Anges (late Arthur) Cobo, Richard (late Grace) Schweickert and Barbara (Francis) Burnham; grandchildren, Donald (Jennifer), Michael, Brian (Tina) Maue; Kara (Peter) Burakowski, Laura Maue and Kevin Fitzgerald; 11 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Dorothy (Paul) Willover and Henry (Donna) Schweickert.

A memorial service was held at Eden United Methodist Church on Saturday (Sept. 8) for Grover Lee Carpenter, 64, of Eden, who died on Monday, September 3, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy DeYoung Carpenter; children, Jessie Lee (Michael) Carey and Josh Carpenter; siblings, Bill (Jane) and Laird Carpenter; and in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Evelyn Carpenter; and sister, Cynthia (Lui) Casolini.
Mr. Carpenter was born in Springville.
He graduated from Eden High School in 1966 and earned a degree in zoology from Colorado State University.
He returned to Eden, where he worked various odd jobs, including putting up bleachers and operating ski lifts at Glenwood Acres. It was there that he met his wife.
He began working for his brother, Bill, at M&D Systems. He worked as a computer programmer, then a systems analyst and eventually ran the business. He closed the business in early 2011 and officially retired in 2012.
He enjoyed skiing, volleyball, photography and tractors. He was always ready to give anyone a hand, a ride, or a laugh. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

A memorial service was held on Monday (Sept. 10) from the Donald M. Demmerley Funeral Home for Karl H. Toepfer, 77, of Hamburg, who died on Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Canfield) Toepfer; children, Dorothy (Daryl) Sessanna and Kevin and Bryan (Lisa) Toepfer; siblings, Elizabeth (late Norman) Becker and Richard (Diane) and Herbert (late Marge) Toepfer; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Toepfer owned the former Unique Pets Store in Hamburg.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict. He was also a member of Hamburg Township Post No. 1419 VFW.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 from the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg for William R. “Dick” Moulton, of Hamburg, formerly of Wellsville, who died on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Jenni) and Christopher (Renee) Moulton and Ellen (Frank) Jones; and grandchildren, Adam, Meagan, Ashley, and Hannah Moulton and Zachary and Sean Jones.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ann (Shorter) Moulton.
Mr. Moulton was retired from the New York State Surrogate Court and owner of the former Camp Road Auto Center.
He was a longtime member and past president of the Hamburg Jaycees. He was also involved with the Village of Hamburg Recreation Department for over 30 years, where he helped with the junior baseball league, the village playgrounds and the village swimming pool.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg.

Word has been received that Joyce (Rayeur) Shumway, 84, of Middletown, formerly of Eden, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Dick (Melody) Shumway and Chris (Paul) Falzone; brother, Mike (Marion) Rayeur; grandsons, Sam and Will Falzone; and 17 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Shumway.
A longtime resident of Eden, Mrs. Shumway graduated from the Eden Central School District and worked as a wife and mother for most of her life.
She retired in St. Petersburg, Fla., and most recently moved to Middletown to be closer to her daughter.
