Robert Ellis
Robert EllisRobert Misner Ellis, Lt. Col. Ret., 90, of Valrico, Fla. passed away on Wednesday, June 20.
The son of Clayton and Geraldine (nee Misner) Ellis, Bob lived most of his life in Springville. During World War II, he served as a B-17 pilot, completing 38 missions before rotating back to the U.S. to transition into B-29s.
A real estate broker for 60 years, Bob stayed in the United States Air Force Reserve, where he attained the rank of lieutenant colonel, before retiring in 1984.
He was predeceased by his wife Virginia in 2001 and is survived by sons Robert (Sylvia) of Valrico; Richard (Carol) of Winter Park, Fla. and sister Sally Dwyer of Victor, N.Y. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Robert (Tricia), Richard, Stephen and Katherine and two great-grandchildren, Jack Robert and Anna Claire.
Bob was active in Republican politics and was president of the NYS Route 219 Association, helping to get Route 219 approved to be built between Buffalo and Washington, D.C. He was a golfer, a Rotarian and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
A memorial service will be held in Springville at a time and place to be announced.
Louise Wohlhueter
Louise E. Wohlhueter (nee Sponholz) of Colden died June 25.
Wife of Leonard W. Wohlhueter; mother of Lynn (James) May, Lee (Tory) Wohlhueter, Laurel Zalewski and Luanne Bromley; grandmother of Jamie and Jonathan May, Jaclyn Pilger, Lee, Kirsten and Scott Wohlhueter and Zachary and Brianna Bromley; great-grandmother of Kailyn and Tristen Pilger; sister of Marion Frantz Hinman and the late Helen Verigen, Carl Sponholz, Adeline Crowell, Albert Sponholz and Anna Carlson.
A funeral service was held Friday, June 29 from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Colden.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Colden Fire Company. Arrangements were made by the Wurtz Funeral Home, 9287 Boston State Road, in Boston.
Barbara Waldman
Barbara Waldman (nee Sher), 97, of Manhattan passed away Monday, July 2 at Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville.
She was born in Manhattan in 1914, the daughter of Abraham and Rebecca Sher and had been a homemaker in New York City.
She was the wife of the late Leo Waldman, mother of Gary Waldman of West Valley and Sandra Fraiman of New York City and sister of Rose and June. Burial was in New York City.
