Lancaster Obits for the week of Sunday, Oct. 21

LANCASTER- BESCH - Claire A. (nee Sweetman) "Petie" of Lancaster passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Justin "Buzz"; loving mother of Jay (Debbie), Peter (Donna), Wayne (Patty), Carmel (Greg) Mecozzi, Justin (Dana) and Peggy (Tom) Slawatycki and the late Marty; mother-in-law of Kathy (Scutt); grandmother of 15; great-grandmother of nine; sister of Tom, Mimi (Carl) Smith and the late Chuck (Tina). Family received relatives and friends at the Wendel & Loecher Inc., Funeral Home, Lancaster Saturday and Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's RC Church, Lancaster, on Monday morning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Foundation.

BROWDER - Harry E. of Lancaster died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the age of 64, at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on Dec. 2, 1947 to the late Clinton and Virginia (Clark) Browder. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and was employed with the Federal government for over 40 years, working in the Department of Defense, and the Federal Aviation Administration. Survivors include his loving wife, Donna J. (Pettitt) Browder; two children, Kimberly Garvey of Cheektowaga and Kevin Browder of Lancaster; a grandson, Zachary Garvey; five sisters, Thersa (Russell) Colosi, Barbara (Frank) Chirello, Darlene (Robert) Cronkhite, Sharon (Hartley) Kroening and Betty Weidert; one aunt and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitations were held at the Dubois Funeral Home, in Wheatfield on Sunday. Services were conducted by Pastor Michael A. Keicher, on Monday morning in the funeral home, along with military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Inst., or a Hospice of your choice.

VEIDERS - Doreen M. (nee Kroah) of Lancaster entered into rest Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012; beloved wife of the late Marvin Veiders; devoted and caring mother of Cindy (Dennis) O'Bara; loving and proud grandmother of Jenna and Amanda. Family and friends called Sunday at the Lester H. Wedekindt, Inc. Funeral Home, where funeral services were held Monday morning.
