Joseph J. Giumento, 94, of West Valley, died April 25. He was a World War II combat veteran and one of the founders of Hopkins Auto Parts and Skyway Auto Parts in Buffalo, as well as a Springville auction participant. Giumento was the husband of the late Adeline (nee Menchetti) Giumento; father of Pascal (Dale), David (Ann) and Nancy Jones; grandfather of Laurie (Jason) Koperny, Amy (Kiesan) Liu, Franklin (Rita) Jones and the late Mia Jones; also survived by four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters Mamie (Joseph) Larocca and Josephine (John) Capella and brother Samual (Josephine) Giumento; survived by Mary (Steven) Thomason, Constance (James) Porcelli and Guy (Louise) Giumento; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Hamburg.
Lucille M. Smith, 89, of East Concord passed away on April 28 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo.
She was born in 1922 to the late Donald and Rose (nee Fiebelkorn) Smith in Buffalo.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Church in Springville.
Smith was a united auto worker for Trico Products in Buffalo for 40 years.
She was aunt of Dinah (George) Mills, Lorraine (late Daniel) Moulthrop, Louise (Stephen) Hoyle and Douglas (Dianne) Empringham; great-aunt of Sarah Empringham, Cheryl (Andrew) Kull, James and Elizabeth Hoyle and great-great-aunt of Faith Alford; also survived by several nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, the late Dolores Wible and Lorraine (late Alvie) Empringham.
Burial was in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Springville. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Aloysius Regional School, 186 Franklin St., Springville, NY 14141. Arrangements were made by the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 East Main St., Springville.
