Word has been received that Charlotte Sipprell Bates, 96, of Largo, Fla., formerly of Hamburg, died on Monday, June 11, 2012.
She is survived by her sons, Pastor David R. (Sally), Eric S. (Corrinn) and Donald P. Bates; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Joseph “Ron” Bates; and siblings, Martha B. Sanderson and Sherwood B., William H., Raymond F., Robert D., George G. and Donald D. Sipprell.
Mrs. Bates earned her bachelor’s degree from John Brown University and her master’s degree from Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla.
Her teaching career spanned a 60 year period in both public and private school systems in several states, including Charlotte Avenue Elementary School.
Charlotte Avenue was named after Mrs. Bates by her father, Henry V. Sipprell, a prominent Hamburg developer.
Mrs. Bates was the last surviving member of that family’s generation whose first names appear on street signs within the Village of Hamburg.
Her dedication to the teaching profession and especially young people was a direct reflection of her mother’s influence. Her mother, Martha Bonnar Sipprell, taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church for over 75 years and served as the first woman on the Hamburg Board of Education.
She was buried at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery of Seminole, Fla.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday (July 16) from Our Mother of Good Counsel Church for Stephen J. Mikos, of Blasdell, who died on Friday, July 13, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen D. (Cooper) Mikos; son, Joseph M. Mikos; siblings, Gloria (Daniel) Tomaszewski and Michael and Joseph Mikos.
He was predeceased by his brother, Francis “Frank” Mikos.
Mr. Mikos was a member of AMVETS Post No. 897.
He was entombed in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Arrangements were made through the John J. Kaczor Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held from Our Mother of Good Counsel Church for Grace (DeAngelis) Ricci of Hamburg, who died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Luigi Ricci; children, Camillo and John (Kimberly) Ricci; sister, Theresa (Frank) Ricci; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sons, Frank (Diane) and Joseph Ricci; and siblings, Gina (late Anthony) Fini, and Filippo (Pat) and Anthony (Joanna) DeAngelis.
She was interred in Holy Cross Cemetery.

A funeral service with military honors was held on Saturday (July 14) from the Maurer Funeral Home in Baldwinsville for Matthew J. Porpilia, 63, of Baldwinsville, formerly of Hamburg, who died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cindy L. (Cheney) Porpilia; children, Matthew J. (Jessica) II and Angela M. Porpilia and Julie A. (Joe) Pisacano; mother, Dorothy Porpilia; siblings, Cate (Dean) Jewart, Marie (Glenn) Myer, Sue Lord, Joanne Pepin and Marc (Amy) and Paula Porpilia; granddaughter, Lily Porpilia; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Mr. Porpilia was born in Gowanda and was raised and educated in Hamburg.
He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He received two Bronze Stars, one being for Valor.
After serving his country, he was employed by the NYS Police with Troop D in Baldwinsville for 20 years. He retired in 1993.
Also for the past 30 years, he owned and operated, with the help of his family, MJP Enterprises in Baldwinsville.
He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America CNY Chapter No. 103 and the retired NYS Police Association.
He was also a member of Camillus Rod & Gun Club and the former commissioner of the Plainville and Lysander fire departments.
He was protective and devoted to raising his family and he always made them his top priority.
He was buried in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Private services were held for Robert E. “Bob” Pryor of Hamburg, formerly of Boston, who died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine H. (Crandall) Pryor; children, Robert R. (Lillian) Pryor, Barbara A. (Michael) Solly, Richard H. (Stephanie) Hayden Jr. and Janette L. (Kevin) Standera; sister, Anne Montes; and grandchildren, Aaron, Bethany and Michael Pryor and Michelle and Nicole Nicotera.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Pryor; parents, Leroy and Emma Pearl Pryor; and brother, Roy Pryor.
Mr. Pryor was employed and retired from Curtis Screw Co. in Buffalo.
He was a past member of the Boston Lions Club, the Sunset Bay Fishing Society, AMVETS in Boston and the VFW in Silver Creek.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and gardening.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, (July 14) from St. John’s Lutheran Church for Margaret M. Snyder, 87, of Angola, who died on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Gerred Snyder; children, Connie (Anthony) Pingitore and Gary (Christine) Snyder; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister, Merril Cromley.
Mrs. Snyder was a member of the VFW Post 5798 Ladies Auxiliary.
Interment was in the Forest Avenue Cemetery in Angola.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday (July 14) at the Eden Emergency Squad Room for Kenneth J. Krueger, of Eden, who died on Saturday, July 7, 2012.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth (Michelle) and Christopher (Sarah Nieman) Krueger; grandson, Nicholas Krueger; and Cynthia Smith.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Melanie Krueger.
Mr. Krueger was a former member of the Eden Emergency and Rescue Squad, Eden Reserve Police and Eden Athletic Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday (July 17) from SS. Peter and Paul Church for Elizabeth T. “Betty” (Radice) Haberer of Hamburg, who died on Friday, July 13, 2012.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Stephen) Duch and Robert Jr. (Rosanne) and Mark (Anne) Haberer; sister, Rita (late Ted) Barber; and grandchildren, Sarah and Eric Duch and Briana and Kelsey Haberer.
Mrs. Haberer was a Hamburg resident for almost 60 years.
She was a substitute teacher for many years for Hamburg, Frontier and Eden schools.
She was a member of D’Youville Alumnae and Armor Seniors.

Her final resting place will be SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Otto Lenau; children, Sigfried (Lynette) and Gerhard (Donna) Lenau; siblings, Brigitte (late Hugo) Lenau, Renate (Carl) Schanzleh and Erika (Herbert II) Stockschlaeder; grandchildren, Jaqueline, Rebecca, Tyler, Ashley and Amanda Lenau and Christina (Michael) Rice; great-granddaughter, Mila; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Elsa Schneider and Christel (late Horst) Moor.

He is survived by his parents, Brian and Robin Seneca; biological parents, Ray Schluter and Loreen Spruce; siblings, Darelyn Spruce, Cody Testerman, Elijah Leroy and Neasa, Arlo and Noah Seneca; and nephew, Keith Seneca.
He was predeceased by his brother, Dustin Spruce.

She was predeceased by her husband, William P. Clancy.
Mrs. Clancy was retired from the Department of Youth Services for Erie County.
