Thanking those who keep our country safe

This letter was written by an eighth grade student, who attends school at St. Mark Elementary School, Buffalo.

Dear Veteran,

There are many prestigious careers that one can pursue in our country today. Among them are doctors, lawyers, or police officers. But the most respected career one can pursue is the career of serving one’s country.

There is no greater act of love, loyalty, or courage in a country than to risk one’s own life to defend it. Whether you served overseas or stayed in the country, ready to go with one call, you have served greatly. You kept the nation safe from danger. You responded to an honorable call from God that only the most courageous men and women have the courage to respond to. Whether you were a Marine, in the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, or Air Force, Americans have looked up to you with deep respect.

After all, you have kept us safe and free. Words cannot describe the heroic deeds that you have done for our country, no matter how big or small. With my deepest sincerity, I thank you.

The next time I have a problem that seems hopeless, I will think of you and remember that I wouldn’t even be here in the United States, safe and free if it wasn’t for people like you. I will keep you in my prayers.

Love,

Isabelle Brown
