Where is the Christmas spirit?

Where is the snow?

Where is the holiday music?

And, where the Christmas spirit?

It just doesn’t seem to be around this year.

When the holidays are here I get this sense of joy that comes along with the season. I try to be a little nicer to everyone I see - even strangers - and it seems to be a little easier to wear a smile on my face.

That seems to be the case for many people around the holidays. It’s just what happens. Well, usually that is.

I’m just not feeling the excitement this year.

This seems to be true while I am working out in the communities; while I am out shopping, or anywhere I go.

Is it just too early in the month for people to be excited about Santa? Or to start believing in a Christmas miracle?

This all feels so strange to me.

As a child, I can remember lights on all the neighbors homes, caroling with the neighborhood children and requesting ‘Figgy pudding” at the end of our front door concert; and most of all...excitement.

People used to anticipate Santa’s arrival, and the sound of the bells on his sleigh. Is the magic gone?

How can we bring this back to the community?

When your neighbor delivers a tin of cookies, topped with a holiday bow or when you take a little time off and spend the day with your family decorating your home for the holidays - that’s when the spirit truly comes alive.

Take a little time out of your busy schedules and make time for your family this weekend.

Cut down a Christmas tree instead this year or share your family cookie recipe with your children. The smiles on their faces will make it all worth while at the end of the day.

Help brighten the community by adding to the atmosphere and bring back the spirit of Christmas this year.

Hey, maybe if we all cheer up a bit and are nicer to one another than the snow will arrive and we’ll have a white Christmas after all.
