Be more involved with the Lockport Retailer in 2013

It is time once again for the start of a new year. Time to remember the past 12 months and look forward to the next.
There have been many things that have happened around the Lockport area in 2012. Washington Hunt Elementary School will be closing after the end of the school year, a string of shootings, both locally and nationally, have caused residents to pause and remember the victims and many new businesses are now open in the area, with more to open in 2013.
I have the pleasure to be going into my second year of working in the Lockport community and with many of you. With your help I have been able to cover many of the happenings and events that go on in Lockport and its surrounding communities.
In 2013, I plan to continue to work to cover all of what is important to the people of this area. But as always, I could use your help. If anyone has a happening or event coming up in 2013, please feel free to contact me and let me know.
I would be happy to get a story in the paper about an upcoming event, fund-raiser, award or honor, organization, business or anything else that you might feel is news worthy.
Groups and organizations can also submit a listing for the Around Town calendar page.
Those in the area that have an issue or topic of concern about something that is going on in the area is welcome to submit a letter to the editor. Letters will appear on the Opinions and Editorials page in the paper and can be up to 600 words in length.
People with a quick complaint or acknowledgement can also call into our Steam line. Steam is for complaints or compliments residents see locally or nationally.
I can be contacted by email at rcason@metrowny.com or by phone at 434-4055, ext. 306. To fax something into the Lockport Retailer call 438-1394. To contact the Steam line call 668-9065 and leave a voicemail or visit www.metrowny.com.
I look forward to everything that is to come in 2013 and wish all the readers of the Lockport Retailer a safe and happy New Year.
