LANCASTER- We recently participated in a search and rescue drill with Depew Fire and OEM. All resources from our group were utilized; including our mobile command and communications units and Argo ( all-terrain vehicle). It went well and we are looking forward to more joint training sessions in the future.
This month we will be participating in National Night Out at the event in Depew. It will be Tuesday Aug. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Depew Fireman's Park. Various agencies will be represented, including our new CERT team. You will recognize them by their lime green vests and helmets. They will be handing out brochures to recruit new members and describe what CERT can do.
We have also formed a new Town Emergency Planning Committee. It is made up of reps from each Town department. They will review all town emergency plans and work to make them optimal for the situation. They will operate under the ICS structure and follow FEMA guidelines.
With the summer weather in full swing, please remember to protect yourself against the sun's rays and stay hydrated.
Drink plenty of fluids and limit your exposure to the sun.
