• Anita Parker, 32, of Hawk Meadows, Brant, was charged Aug. 18 with third-degree burglary, third-degree assault, and second-degree harassment after Deputies responded to a complaint of a disturbance on Versailles Plank Road in Brant.
According to authorities, the complainant reported that a woman, whom she knew, came to her residence and entered the house in an attempt to assault her. Deputies then received a report from Gowanda Police that Parker was at the police station to report that she had been the victim of an assault on Versailles Plank Road.
Parker was transported to Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in Brant Town Court.
• Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest to two people Aug. 14 in relation to a fatal accident.
On July 21, at about 11 p.m., members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit were called to a fatal accident on Route 20, on the Seneca Nation of Indians Reservation. While at the scene it was determined that an eastbound motorcycle, operated by Charles H. Phillips, 53, of Derby, struck the side of a car that made a turn in front of him. Phillips was pronounced dead at LakeShore Hospital that night.
The car was occupied by Jessica N. Mann, 27, of Dunkirk, and a 16-year-old male acquaintance.
At the time of the accident, Sheriff’s Deputies say, both Mann and the 16-year-old stated that the 16-year-old was driving. Both gave written statements to Sheriff’s Deputies making the claim. Further investigation by the Accident Investigation Unit revealed that Mann was, in fact, the operator of the car at the time of the accident.
The investigators say they discovered a digital recording from a store near the accident scene and another from over 10 miles away that showed Mann operating the vehicle.
Mann was arraigned in the Town of Brant Court and held on $2,500 bail. She has also been detained by federal authorities for an incident that occurred in the City of Dunkirk in February of this year.
The 16-year-old male was questioned, processed and released pending an appearance in the Town of Brant Court. Both face charges of Giving a False Written Statement, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Conspiracy. Mann was also ticketed for Failure to Yield the Right of Way and Unlicensed Operation.
