North Collins Village Police report for Nov. 25

In October, the North Collins Police Officers were on duty for 268 hours. Three Officers were assigned to a Halloween detail. An additional 24 hours were logged for the officers' annual Range requalification.
Officers responded to a total of 78 various requests for Police, which included some traffic stops, as follows: two motor vehicle accidents, three funeral details, four court details, one suspicious incident, one unlawful possession of marijuana arrest, one driving while intoxicated arrest, one domestic incident, one unauthorized use of a motor vehicle complaint, one erratic motor vehicle operator located, one criminal mischief complaint, one welfare check, one assist to the North Collins Fire Department, three EMS assists to the North Collins Emergency Squad, two road obstruction complaints, seven assists to other police agencies. These assists included a violent out-of-control resident of a group home, a burglary in progress and the capture of a suspect involved in a shooting incident. Regular property checks were conducted of schools, businesses, public property and vacant properties. Regular curfew checks were conducted.
The North Collins Police Department again worked with the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency and the state Health Department in the collection of unused and expired medications. During this collection at NCPD, 64 pounds of expired or unused medication as well as 17 pounds of needles were turned in. All drugs and needles were turned over to the DEA for disposal.
The North Collins Police Department issued 45 Traffic Tickets in October. These included 30 tickets for speeding, 20 of which were in the Village, with speeds ranging from 46 MPH in a 35 MPH zone to 55 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. The average for speeding tickets in the Village was 49.3 MPH. Ten speeding tickets were issued in the Town of North Collins and in Langford. These tickets were in various locations and averaged 12.8 MPH over the posted speed limit. Five tickets were issued for cell phone use, one ticket was issued for texting, one ticket was issued for an expired inspection, one ticket was issued for driving while intoxicated with a B.A.C. of over .08 percent, one ticket was issued for Common Law DWI, two tickets were issued for red light violation, two tickets were issued for stop sign violation, one ticket was issued for child restraint violation, one ticket was issued for following too close and one ticket was issued for a non-functional license plate lamp.
