Man sentenced to jail for driving under the influence of drugs

On Friday June 29th a Cheektowaga man was sentenced to 6 months in jail for driving while under the influence of a drug after a 3 car accident on Towers Blvd in Cheektowaga on September 27, 2011.
Henry Polanowski , 31 of Gaby Lane Cheektowaga caused the accident at 11:50 am after he injected a mixture of cocaine and heroin and then proceeded to drive until he struck 2 cars and came to rest on a front lawn on Towers Blvd. He admitted to police that he took the drugs earlier that day. A hypodermic needle was found next to Polanowski in the front seat of the vehicle he was driving. At the time of the accident his NYS driver’s license was suspended by the Cheektowaga Town Court and he was on parole for a previous narcotics related conviction.
Polanowski was charged with Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He pled guilty to Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of A Motor Vehicle. Cheektowaga Town Justice Paul Piotrowski sentenced Polanowski to 6 months in the Erie County Correction Facility because of the seriousness and danger of Ploanowski’s actions.
