Lockport Police reports for the week of July 23

Police reports from the Lockport Police Department.

July 18

Charged

Justin Taylor Martin, 39, 36 Dayton St., Apt. 5, Lockport was charged with third-degree criminal trespass July 18.

Patrol responded to the area of Roy B. Kelley in reference to a potential petit larceny. The caller stated he had witnessed an apparently intoxicated male going through a vehicle at 122 Akon St. and confronted him.

The male began to run away and the caller followed him to the vicinity of the school, where he lost sight of the male in bushes.

Police found Martin hiding in the bushes next to the school. He was taken back to Akon Street where the caller positively identified him as the suspect.

July 19

Larceny

Britney K O’Connor, 21, 25 Beverly Ave., Lockport was charged with petit larceny July 19.

Patrol responded to the DRI on Davison Road for a report of a stolen purse. Patrol was informed that the suspect was still on scene.

Patrol spoke with the victim who said she is an employee of the establishment and noticed her purse was taken from the bar area. A witness said he believed that O’Connor had taken a black purse from the bar area. Video surveillance was viewed showing O’Connor leave with the purse and return 30 seconds later without it.

The purse was located in the bushes behind Lock City Pizza and returned. There did not appear to be anything missing from the purse.

Possession

Sasha N. Botting, 23, 6304 Hatter Road, Newfane was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana July 19.

Patrol responded for a warrant service. Patrol knocked on the door of room No. 226 and when the door opened, Botting was standing in the doorway. Police advised her that there was an active warrant for her arrest. Patrol was then given verbal consent for a lawful search of the room.

During the search, a small amount of marijuana and two yellow pills with the letter “E” on one side and the No. 40 on the other side were found.

Said items were located under the mattress. She stated the pills were Opana. Patrol also located several needles and a spoon that were in one of the dresser drawers. All evidence will be sent to the lab for further testing. Botting also had $1,406 in her possession.

July 20

Charged

Shane R. Oliver, 24, 368 Hawley St., Apt. 3 Lockport was charged with disorderly conduct July 20.

Police responded to Pine Street for a fight. Upon arrival patrol observed concert security struggling with Oliver, escorting him out of the concert. Oliver was allegedly cussing at security.

Concert security stated Oliver was involved in a fight and when they attempted to get him to leave he refused.

July 21

DWI

Julie V. Kayutkin, 19, 6163 Townline Road, Lockport was charged with driving while intoxicated July 21.

Patrol responded to an accident where the woman driver was attempting to leave. Patrol located the vehicle off the road on Union Street. The vehicle had damage to the front and driver’s side.

Patrol interviewed the witness who stated he saw the vehicle traveling on Market Street and it turned onto Union Street leaving the roadway and coming to a stop.

Patrol went up to the vehicle with a female in the driver’s seat. She allegedly refused to open the window or the door to be interviewed.

Patrol opened the door and interviewed her. Police observed the odor of an alcoholic beverage was on the driver’s breath. Patrol asked how much she had to drink and she stated “too much.”

Patrol administered field sobriety tests, which she failed. Patrol also observed that bushes and a no parking sign had been run over.

July 24

DWI

David J. White, 38, 200 Clinton St., Lockport was charged Tuesday with driving while intoxicated.

Patrol executed a traffic stop for a vehicle that committed traffic violations. A check also showed the driver did not possess a valid license.

While police were speaking with the driver, he was found to have red, glassy eyes, slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The driver was given filed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI.
