On Thursday, June 21, a Buffalo man was sentenced to 90 days in jail for leading Cheektowaga Police on a chase through the streets in the northwest part of town back in March of 2008.
Cheektowaga Town Justice Paul Piotrowski gave Leonard Briggins, 42, of Suffolk Street, Buffalo a 90-day sentence to the Erie County Correction Facility for fleeing from the Cheektowaga Police on a motorcycle, at times reaching speeds over 90 mph on March 31, 2008.
He sped eastbound on the Kensington Expressway, passing stop signs and red lights heading north on Eggert Road where he eventually crashed and was apprehended near Kensington Avenue.
He was charged with Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, and several others.
Briggins failed to show up for future court dates so a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. He was located and arrested on the bench warrant May 14 this year.
On Thursday, June 21, Briggins pled guilty to multiple charges and was sentenced by Judge Paul Piotrowski.
