Three arrested in gas station robbery

Three men were arrested late Thursday night on June 28 after they robbed the Sunoco Station located at 432 Dingens St.

At approximately 9 p.m. the three men walked into the gas station with their hands in pockets to look as if they had weapons, and demanded that the clerk behind the counter hand over all of the money from the cash register. The clerk followed the demands and handed over approximately $300. The men then exited and fled in a car.

Police Officers responding to the scene were assisted by a witness who gave them a description and direction of travel of the getaway car. Minutes later, Officer Matthew Galas of the Norfolk Southern Railway Police noticed the getaway car on Richard Street near William and followed the vehicle to Broadway near Ogden.

Cheektowaga Police Officer Darryl Leszkowicz and other officers from Cheektowaga and Buffalo stopped the vehicle and took the three suspects into custody. The money from the robbery was recovered. No weapon was found.

Arrested were Darius E. West, 20 of Linda Drive Cheektowaga, Lennard L. Sheppard, 20 of Lombard Street Buffalo, and his twin brother Leonard L. Sheppard, 20 also of Lombard Street. They were all charged with Robbery in the second degree and held to see the judge.
