Jason Jaskula marching to support fallen veterans

BOSTON — On Nov. 3, Master Sergeant Jason Jaskula will carry a rucksack containing 58 memorial rocks, symbolizing Western New York U.S. military members who were killed in action during Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation New Dawn.

Red Jacket VFW Post 3068, in partnership with Springville VFW Post 5260, will host the march, in support of the 27th National Veterans Golden Age Games, which will come to Buffalo next year.

Jaskula will begin marching at 11 a.m. at the AMVETS Post located on 10126 Boston State Road in Boston. He will carry his rucksack north, along Boston State Road, continuing on Chestnut Ridge Road, onto South Buffalo Road and ending at the American Legion Post 567, 3740 North Buffalo Road, Orchard Park.

The Pathfinders and Vets 4 Vets group’s spaghetti dinner, will be held at the Orchard Park post, following the march. The dinner will be open to the public. Veterans may eat for free. The event will include auctions and fundraising activities. All proceeds will be donated to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs 27th National Veterans Golden Age Games.

Red Jacket VFW Post 3068 and Springville VFW Post 5260 both have stated goals of raising funds for the 2013 National Veterans Golden Age Games. Anyone wishing to sponsor Jaskula may send checks payable to either VFW post, to: MSG Jason Jaskula, 4634 Ironwood Dr., Hamburg, NY 14075.
