Special concert in Gowanda's Hollywood Theater

A special concert in the Hollywood Theater on Sunday evening, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. will feature Gowanda's own Emma Steever on the piano and Jacob Swanson on saxophone, as well as saxophonist Sarah Marchitelli.
Swanson and Marchitelli have performed together since 2005 throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and in Europe. Steever is a highly sought-after collaborating pianist and teacher certified in the Gordon Music Learning Theory approach.
The program will include a broad selection of concert music, including works by famous baroque composers Johann Sebastian Bach and Johann Joachim Quantz, Gowanda native Nathan Hall, Jamestown native Kate Parker, and Astor Piazzolla - the famous tango composer.
Hall composed his work "Invisible Cities" in 2009 for Steever and Swanson. Hall received a Fulbright Fellowship to study in Iceland following his studies at Vassar College and Carnegie Mellon University. He now studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder pursuing a DMA in composition.
Steever is completing her senior year at the State University of New York at Fredonia.
Swanson teaches high school music for the Gowanda Central School District, and Marchitelli serves as music coordinator for the Infinity Performing and Visual Arts Center in Jamestown.
