Local man celebrates 40 years of work for local firm

Springville resident Steve Krzes is celebrating 40 years of employment at Fitzpatrick & Weller Inc. of Ellicottville. The company, which began in 1895, is a hardwood products manufacturing firm.Company President and CEO Greg Fitzpatrick said, “It is incredible that Steve has been here 40 years and we congratulate him.”
Krzes said that the many changes in machinery, technology, yield management, the world market and the economy have presented him with many challenges and opportunities. While he started out as a machine operator, he is currently the F&W yield manager, quality control supervisor, a trustee for the company’s 401(k) plan, first responder and safety director.
Saying he enjoys the challenges of meeting specific customer needs, “both here and for those that are located all over the world,” Krzes noted that “meeting customers face to face and getting to know them has been very rewarding.”
Krzes was the New York Lumbermen’s Insurance Trust Fund 2009 Annual Safety Award winner for outstanding work in keeping the workplace a safe environment to work in.
He and his wife Donna have one son, Shawn.
