New York State Assemblyman Kevin Smardz recently joined members of the New York State Police for a car seat safety check at the Springville Fire Hall. During the event, troopers showed local residents how to properly install car seats for their children.
“We always tell our kids, ‘Put your helmet on,’ or, ‘Look both ways before crossing the street,’ but, as parents, we need to be sure we’re taking the right steps, too,” Smardz said.
“Ensuring a car seat is properly installed and the appropriate size for the child is one of the most important things we can do, as parents,” he added. “Many young parents can be overwhelmed with the responsibility and, hopefully, the safety check provided them with reassurance. I also want to thank the troopers for their assistance in making the event such a success.”
