S-GI track takes on Lancaster

In other events, the top three finalists in the 3,000 were all from S-GI. Jess Wojtkowiak came in first, with a time of 11 minutes and 8.5 seconds, followed by McKenzie Maloy, at 12:05.9 and Elle Russell, with 12.25.2. The 1,500 saw the top two come from Springville, as well, topped by Wojtkowiak’s first-place time of 5:20.8. Samantha Peterman came in at 5.27.6, finishing in second.
Justin Dewitt and Joe Cocina were S-GI’s other two first place winners. Cocina took the 1,000 with a time of 2:54.7 and Dewitt finished in 6.1 seconds, in the 55-meter run. Kalei Brautlacht was a competitor for Springville in the 1,000 as well, and came in fifth with a time of 3:35.9.
Cocina also participated in the 1,600, finishing in fourth at 5:06. Tyler Olrogg had a time of 11:27 in the 3,200 and finished in sixth.
In team events, Springville came in first twice, in both the 4-by-800 and the 4-by-200. Sierra Bowen, Brautlacht, Maloy and Wojtkowiak were the participants on the 4-by-800 team that finished with a time of 10:49.0. Joelle Adamczyk, Bowen, Molly Darling and Lines got a time of 2:08.0 in the 4-by-200.
Adamczyk, Hanna Hebden, Maloy and Sarah Marren competed in the 4-by-400 and finished in fourth, with a time of 4:59.7.
The track team will compete in Lancaster on Friday, Jan. 4 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lancaster Field House.
