WEST VALLEY — The West Valley Central School varsity boys soccer team sought to string together back-to-back wins for the first time this season, when the Wildcats took on Frewsburg on the road, on Sept.11. However, the team fell to 2 – 2 after an 8 – 1 loss.
Dylan Westfall, who had two shutouts heading into the game, made 13 saves. Austin Wierzba assisted on the lone goal, which was scored by Cole Stanbro.
On Sept. 13, the Wildcats were back on the field, this time hosting Walsh. Westfall recorded his third shutout of the season and West Valley won the game 2 – 0, to improve to 3 – 2.
The goalie made 20 saves, and Stanbro scored both goals for his team. It was the second time, this season, that Stanbro achieved a multi-goal game.
At halftime, the score was still 0 – 0, but Stanbro scored his first goal 25 seconds into the second half.
“We controlled the rest of the game,” said Kristopher Fuller, the team’s head coach. Patrick Enser and Michael Grisby each registered assists.
The boys were back in action on Sept.18 when they hosted Chautauqua Lake and again on Thursday, Sept. 20 on the road versus Maple Grove. The team’s next game is Tuesday, Sept. 25 at home against Ellicottville. That game is at 4:30 p.m.
