Results from a recent S-GI track team meet

During the meet, Cody Schweickert had a high jump of 5 feet 10 inches, which landed him in first place, qualified him for sectionals and tied a school record set by Ian Will in 2003. Schweickert also finished the hurdle in 7.7 seconds, which placed him in third.
Senior Brian McNerney came in first place in the 3,200-meter with a time of 10:32.2, qualifying him for sectionals. McNerney came in second in the 1,600-meter with a time of 5:02.9.
Brooke Reed placed second in the 1,000-meter with a time of 3:25.8. McKenzie Maloy came in fourth place in the 1,500-meter with a time of 5:52.4. Dru McCarthey finished in third place in the 300-meter with a time of 49.4. McCarthey also came in second place in the high jump.
In the 4 by 800-meter relay, Reed, Maloy, Joelle Adamcyzk and Sam Peterman finished in second place with a time of 11:47.1.
In the 4 by 200-meter relay, Sierra Bowen, Lexi Lines, McCarthey and Adamcyzk placed second with their time of 2:05.9. According to Coach Joseph Marvin, “A bad handoff led to them being out leaned at the finish line by Orchard Park.”
In the triple jump, Jess Hotchkiss came in second with her leap of 26 feet 8.25 inches; Hotchkiss also came in first in the long jump with her spring of 13 feet 1.25 inches. Tom Michaels came in third place in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet .75 inches. Michaels also placed second in the high jump with his hop of 5 feet 8 inches.
Nick Eposito finished in first in the pole vault and qualified for sectionals.
Evan Brand had a shot put throw of 45 feet 3 inches, placing him 3 inches out of third place. In his second throw, Brand came in second as he flung the shot put for 42 feet 1 inch. Lines took first place in the hurdles with her finish of 8.3 seconds, beating alumni Holly Lape’s 1999 record of 8.7 seconds.
The track team also met at the Lancaster Field House on Friday, Dec. 16. The next meet for the team is scheduled for Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. in Fredonia.
