Running club’s marathon mission accomplished

SPRINGVILLE –– Seventeen members of the Springville Sole Sisters Running Club were among the 5,200 runners who competed in the Buffalo marathon and half marathon race in late May.
Completing the half marathon’s 13.1 miles were Charity Ballantyne, Suzanne Ehlers, Heidi Findlay, Roseanne Horn, Linda Idzik, Christy Komenda, Kathleen Krzemien, Kim Pazzuti, Renee Peterman, Carolyn Robertson, Jill Russell, Chris Wolfley and Donna Wolfley.
Completing the full marathon’s 26.2 miles were Amy Dickinson, Susie Nesselbush, Heather Sopko and Diane Waterman.
The Sole Sisters ran as part of Roswell Park’s Team Cure Challenge and raised more than $5,000 for patient programs and research at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Training for the race began in January and the runners logged approximately 500 miles on the way to the marathon.
The informal club is made up of runners who meet in the parking lot of Bertrand Chaffee Hospital at 8 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Anyone interested in participating may join any time.
