Galati Kemp Karate kids take honors in tournament

Derrick Overhoff, David Overhoff and Dillion Timmel

Students from Galati Kempo Karate won top spots in their age divisions in a recent karate tournament held at North Collins High School.

Derrick Overhoff placed second in sparring in the 9-year-old intermediate division, David Overhoff took first place in sparring in the 11-year-old intermediate division and Dillion Timmel placed second in sparring in the 14-year-old advanced division.

The boys also all placed in an earlier tournament in the spring, with Derrick and Dillion’s both taking first place and David’s taking second place, in their respective classes.

In the last two years, all three have taken first or second place in their divisions.
