IronPigs win Boston 7- and 8-year-old championship

The IronPigs, sponsored by Dana Darling Construction, won the Boston 7- and 8-year-old championship after a season of Little League baseball.The IronPigs won the championship after they defeated the PawSox, sponsored by Evans Bank, 11 – 2 on Thursday, July 13 at the Boston Town Park.
The game started on an even keel, with each of the teams’ tied at 2 – 2 in the early innings. But, during the middle innings, the IronPigs jumped to take and retain a 5 – 2 lead. Although the PawSox continued to battle, the IronPigs progressed to add to their lead, making the score 11 – 2 by the latter innings of the meet.
The PawSox made a final attempt to stay in the game, in hopes of winning the championship in the last inning, but their efforts did not pay off.

Following the match, Chris Barlow, who helped coach the IronPigs along with Terry Barlow, Sean Crotty, Dana Darling and Brent Holst, said, “The kids progressed all year – every one of them. We love all the kids. They played their hearts out, and we are proud of them.”
PawSox Coach Donna Barth noted, “We are all very proud of our PawSox team. Thank you for a great season!”
The PawSox were also coached by Peter Loretto this season.
