WVCS JV girls basketball loses to Franklinville

WEST VALLEY — The girls junior varsity basketball team from West Valley Central School split the first two games of the season, despite leading after three quarters in the second game, which the team lost 34 – 26. On Dec. 5, the Wildcats hosted Franklinville, in an effort to get back in the win column, but West Valley lost its second game in a row, to fall to 1 – 2, on the season. Franklinville prevailed by a 33 – 29 score.

EmmaLea Erlandson led the way with 10 points, while teammate Jordan Selzter came in with 9 points. Cameron McLeod contributed 6 points, and Alex Gentner had 4 points, to round out the scoring. Defensively, McLeod had 7 rebounds, but Erlandson racked up 8.

“The game was close, all the way through,” said Coach Bryan Hanson. “We were in the right spots on the floor; we just have to work hard on finishing the play and putting it in the basket.”

The girls played three more before heading into their next game on Friday, Dec. 29 in Springville. Those matchups were on Dec. 14, at home against North Collins, a road game in North Collins on Dec. 17 and another game versus Clymer, on Dec. 20.
