St. Bonaventure women's tennis earns academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – For the fourth consecutive season, the St. Bonaventure women’s tennis squad has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an All-Academic Team selection. Additionally, four members of the women’s club and three from the men’s side earned individual Scholar-Athlete honors from the ITA.
On the women’s side, Manuela Marin Salcedo, Kathryn Kvas, Andrea Pavlovic and Riley Archer were honored. Marin Salcedo becomes the first SBU women’s tennis player since the award’s inception in 2002 to earn the honor four years in a row. For Kvas, it marks the third time in her career being named a Scholar-Athlete, and she has one year of eligibility remaining.
The women’s team recognition from the ITA marks the fifth time in the last six years St. Bonaventure has made the list.
For the men, Oscar Yanez, Elliot Fanshel and Trevor Haskell were honored. Yanez makes the list for the third straight year as he enters his senior season in 2012-13. Fanshel and Haskell are both first-year members.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any program that has a cumulative team Grade Point Average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2011 and spring 2012).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria:
1) Be a varsity letterwinner.
2) Have a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
3) Have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
