East Aurora girls junior varsity basketball team defeats Springville-GI
Springville trailed 13 – 6, midway through the second quarter, forcing Coach Bob Gainey to call a timeout.
Springville scored 5 straight points, including a Julia Krzemien drive, off a steal, to make the score 11 – 16.
The Lady Griffins went into the halftime break, down 18 – 12. Springville went scoreless, during the third quarter, but ended the drought, thanks to a Riley Stedman jumper, with 3:12 left, in the fourth.
Krzemien drove into the lane and dished the ball to Wiede, for a basket, but it was not enough, and East Aurora took the game.
“I thought we had some decent looks at the basket last night [against East Aurora], Gainey said.
“We really struggled, bringing the ball up the floor, and that led to us not getting into our sets. I thought we took good shots last night and I’m pretty sure East Aurora blocked at least 10 shots. We needed to ball fake, relocate and find a better shot.”
Springville held East Aurora to 35 points, improving from allowing 44 points, during the Lady Griffins’ first meeting against East Aurora.
The Lady Griffins traveled to Amherst on Feb. 8.
