West Valley junior varsity basketball picks up first win

Patrick Enser led West Valley with 12 points, followed by Jared Ras’ 10-point night. Emil Erlandson racked up 4 points, to go with Caleb Homan’s 2 points.
The Wildcats opened their home schedule by playing Forestville. West Valley fell to 0 – 2 after losing 36 – 28.
“As with the previous game,” Fuller said, “numerous turnovers and 13 missed free throws were the determining factor in the loss.” Enser led the scoring with 10 points, while Ras had 9. Erlandson added 4 points, while Lucas Smith had 3 and Justin Summers had 2.
The Wildcats played their second home game on Dec. 5 and emerged victorious, with a 44 – 42 win against Franklinville.
“The Wildcats came together and rallied for the win,” Fuller said. “The team broke its free throw curse by making 15, with Smith sinking two in the final seconds to seal the victory.” The team’s first win came much like its first loss: at the hands of completed free throws in the final moments.
Enser notched 14 points. Ras was in second place, adding 11. Erlandson garnered 9 points, while Summers and Smith each had 5 tallies.
The Wildcats played at home again on Dec. 14 versus North Collins, as West Valley sought to even its 1 – 2 record. West Valley will play next on Monday, Dec. 17 in North Collins to complete a home-and-home set. That game will begin at 6 p.m.
