NEW YORK — The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation reported that junior hunters ages 14 – 15 will be able to hunt deer, during a youth firearms deer season, Oct. 6 – 8.
The event will be held in the Northern and Southern Zones. Junior hunters with big game hunting licenses will be eligible to take one deer, of either sex, with a firearm, if accompanied by a licensed adult. Junior hunters may use deer management permits or deer management assistance program tags for antlerless deer or, during the youth firearms season, they may use their regular season tags to take a deer of either sex.
