Why has the Ken-Ton School Board and Admin decided to ignore the established parent groups in the district and form their own under the identity of KTPA? KTPA has received a generous donation valued at $2000 from the KTA - otherwise known as the teacher's union - you know, the ones who hand picked the school board. This new group has been embraced and recognized by the district while still trying to get non profit status (ie; no legal formation), while the president of the school board has attached local PTA leadership and been less than transparent in his actions. With all the talk of closing a school - where is the committee to decide on this ? When do the stakeholders (parents) get a seat at the table? Why is this suddenly an administrative decision? You cannot cry about increasing parental involvement and then shun the parents that ARE involved. It is not parental involvement on the Administration and BOE's terms...it is on the PARENTS' terms. You want parents to be more involved? STOP ignoring the established parent groups and START working with them. The clear disrespect that has been shown will be remembered at budget and election time.
