ERIE COUNTY - NOCO Express Stores, its customers and employees gave generously to the local chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, donating $12,010 during a recent in-store campaign. Throughout the month of September, customers could purchase $1 paper balloon at any of NOCO Express’ 35 locations to benefit the nonprofit organization.
“NOCO has been a proud supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for many years, but this was the first time we held a month-long campaign at our Express stores,” said Michael Newman, executive vice president, NOCO. “Thank you to our customers and employees who make a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Your contribution will go towards research, education and patient services to those diagnosed with blood cancer here in Western New York.”
“We want to thank the leaders and associates of NOCO for a record success in their recent Light the Night Paper Balloon Campaign,” said Luann Burgio, deputy executive director, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Western & Central NY Chapter. “It just goes to show that when we join together to fight blood cancers we can make a big difference. But there’s still more to be done to reach our goal of a world without blood cancers.”
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Western & Central New York Chapter currently funds four blood cancer research projects in the region and serves more than 4,000 local patients who have been touched by the blood cancers leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
Patients receive support through financial programs, support groups, peer counseling, educational programs and many other patient services. For more information, visit lls.org.
